While 96% UK businesses have had their online data compromised, 9.1% have not taken steps to protect their electronic data.
The survey was conducted by Tilburg University and the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University.
53% CFO respondents claimed that it is difficult to find qualified employees to protect electronic data.
On a European scale 92% businesses were found to have been hacked with 23% found to have not taken steps to protect their data.
80% US companies were found to have been hacked.
85% companies in Africa, Asia and South America were found to have been breached.
