Selfies as credit card verification?

Designed for the narcissist that loves selfies but hates having to remember strong alphanumeric passwords or more trusted biometric security features, MasterCard is pushing through with selfie verification technology.

MasterCard is working hard on a new app that would allow users to authorize online purchases by way of facial recognition technology.

The app will require that users blink as a way of ensuring that still images are not used to defraud the system.

MasterCard has claimed that the app will not store the image of the face but will convert the picture into binary code which will then be transmitted to MasterCard servers.

MasterCard plans to include 500 users in a pilot launch of the project.
