Yahoo's Fraudulent Cookies Cause $300 million Valuation Loss

Yahoo has announced that they are currently (as of Wednesday 15 January) notifying some users that hackers may have circumvented their password protection measures to access users’ email accounts.

The latest notification is in relation to the one billion user account breach uncovered in 2016. https://afritechnet.blogspot.com/2016/12/yahoo-another-record-data-breach.html

Yahoo claim to have uncovered a swathe of forged internet cookies that allowed intruders access to users’ accounts without a password. Those cookies have since been invalidated.

The torrent of bad news that has caused Yahoo much embarrassment over the past few years has negatively impacted the stock price and has hurt the sale price of Yahoo to Verizon by an estimated $300 million.
