Readers should be aware that the Nigerian cyber crime industry is worth $9.3 billion, at last count. Conversely, spending on cyber security falls noticeably short at just $930 million for the entire continent.
The demographic dividends of a young, upwardly mobile domestic population that embraces the opportunities afforded by smartphones, the convenience that comes with online retail and banking services will need to be matched by an increase in cyber security spending and cyber crime awareness.
