Snapchat left exposed by phishing scam
Snapchat, the preferred video messaging app for millennials, has been forced to issue an apology to its employees after hackers gained access to payroll information. The company is claiming that an individual worker fell victim to a phishing scam which lead to employee data being compromised.
As per Snapchat:
In 2014 the company came under fire when its lax security measures were said to have left users' images vulnerable to hackers, the company itself blamed so-called 'rogue third party apps'. Snapchat's major premise is that images once sent will be destroyed forever within a short time of having been viewed by the intended recipient.
Readers are, once again, reminded to verify that websites and email contacts are who and what they claim to be. Make use of encryption software when and if possible, likewise https.
